Sen. Raymond Lavigne, who is barred from sitting in the Senate ever since the RCMP charged him with fraud and breach of trust and is now awaiting for his criminal trial to conclude, showed up to a cocktail party at the Fairmount Chateau Laurier with his wife, Carmen Robichaud, last week.
Although Lavigne is suspended with pay (he continues to collect a $132,300Â paycheque), he still maintains his office on the hill.
Robichaud said they came because they are big fans of Quebec artist Bruno Pelletier and have seen him perform in Montreal.
Pelletier was in Ottawa along with a handful of other Canadian musicians, part of the he Canadian Private Copying Collective. A small group artists took to the podium urging the Conservative government to protect the private copying levy which provides them with royalties — and income.

Re: Banned senator shows up to party
